Chemical Coating Capabilities
Supporting specialty chemical products since 1977.
Industrial Microencapsulation
In 1983, Coating Place began development work on the microencapsulation of breaker products for numerous oil field service companies. As the first company to create encapsulated breakers, these products are used in the hydraulic fracturing industry to delay the release of breaker material. With nearly 45 years of experience in the specialty chemical field, Coating Place provides unique solutions for a challenging industry.

Breaker Mechanics
Fracturing fluid made up of a high viscosity gel with a proppant, such as sand, is pumped into a well bore at an appropriate rate and pressure to produce lateral fractures to open access to surrounding crude oil and natural gas. This high viscosity fluid creates fractures that produce more return potential. Breaker, such as Encap-AP, is injected with the high viscosity fluid to lower the viscosity after a controlled release time, thus allowing the fluid to escape from the newly formed cracks while leaving the proppant in position to hold the fracture open. Crude oil and natural gas in the surrounding fracture zone will flow freely and can be extracted from the well bore.
