Oradel DR 72dpi 210x61

Oradel®-DR is our delayed release technology. Delaying the release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) allows the product to pass through a specific part of the body whole or without release. In doing this, developers can bypass certain side effects such as stomach upset by delaying the API for release in the small (enteric) or large (colonic) intestines. It can also help with re-dosing issues by creating a pulsatile delivery system by creating numerous delayed release profiles through multiple coatings. This creates a merging of Oradel®-DR and Oradel®-MC technology.

Creating a delayed release profile relies on the specific formulation of the coating to ensure it makes it through certain portions of the body or lasts as long as expected. Oradel®-DR can be further combined with Oradel®-XR technology to create a product that is delayed for a certain period of time or until a certain location in the body and then releases evenly over a specified time period. As with Oradel®-ION, the delayed release capabilities are highly effective together to create a targeted release profile.
